1919

 

The founder, the late Kameichiro Matsutani established the starch business in Osaka.

1934

 

Moved the factory to the present location in Itami City, Hyogo.

1945

 

Opened sales offices in Tokyo and Osaka.

1953

 

Installed the country's first ion exchange equipment for deionizing/ refining of glucose.

1955

 

The president Eijiro Matsutani was elected Managing Director of the Japan Modified Starch Association, a position he still fills today.
Started sales of starch syrup solid "MPD" for Japanese sake breweries.

1958

 

Increased the capital to JPY100,000,000 for the expansion of saccharification facility.

1959

 

Started production of crystalline dextrose.

1964

 

Installed a production facility and started the sales of the enzyme preparation “Matsurase” for saccharification, pharmaceutical and Japanese sake brewing.

1966

 

Started production of maltodextrin for infant formula.

1967

 

The president Eijiro Matsutani was elected chairman of the corporate body, the Japan Glucose Industry Association.

1972

 

Established an exclusive contract with the cooperative Avebe U.A. of Netherlands on import and sales of modified starch products in Japan.

1974

 

Expanded the spray drying facility at the saccharification plant and improved and expanded the modified starch facilities.Also installed an activated sludge plant for pollution prevention.

1980

 

Established a fluid bed granulation factory, and started the production of agglomerated maltodextrin.

1985

 

Started the sales of porous maltodextrin “Pineflow”.

1986

 

The president Eijiro Matsutani was decorated with the Purple Ribbon Medal.

1987

 

Established a joint venture company SMS in Thailand and started to manufacture and export modified starch products.
Opened a branch office in Fukuoka.

1988

 

Opened branch offices in Hiroshima and Niigata.

1989

 

Started worldwide marketing of newly developed dietary fiber, "Fibersol 2."

1990

 

"Fibersol 2" was approved as a GRAS ingredient by US FDA.

1991

 

Expanded production capacity of modified starch, and completed factory automation.

1992

 

"Fibersol 2" was approved as a Japanese Tokuho (FOSHU, Foods for Specified Health Use) health ingredient.

1993

 

Started marketing of newly developed oligosaccharide "PINE LACT".

1995

 

Expanded the production capacity of saccharification plant.

2000

 

Started marketing of newly developed non-sugar/ low-calorie sweetener "Fibersol-2H".

2001

 

Opened Research and DevelopmentCenter

2003

 

Started the sales of edible starch film.

2004

 

Built a new agglomeration plant.

2006

 

Appointed Eijiro Matsutani as Chairman and Haruyo Kikkawa as President.
Established a joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland Co. of USA.

2008

 

Obtained ISO9001:2008 certification.
